About Me

I am very happily married and we have a beautiful daughter who is 7 years old. My wife rides Dressage horses and has represented GB on numerous occasions, recently in March 2007 on The Spanish Sunshine Tour, August 2007 at Hickstead and May 2009, at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

My gorgeous wife & daughter Daddy's girl!

I was born in Bristol, lived in Cheddar in Somerset until I was 9 and then we moved to Hong Kong because Dad got a job there. It was so exciting living in such a vibrant and exotic place at such an exciting age. I loved every minute of the 2 years there!

We then moved back to the UK, to Hertfordshire where I went to school. I moved to London when I began work as a stockbroker.

I left London in 1999 to spend some time with my Dad who was dying of cancer and to get married. We couldn't tie my wife's horses up outside the flat in London and so I decided to go for a complete career change and spend some real quality time saying goodbye to Dad. I then relocated to Somerset and we bought a house just outside Bristol, where we now live.

I decided to support Cancer Research UK and took up triathlons in 2001 to raise money in memory of my Dad. I have a website dedicated to his memory - www.formydad.co.uk

For my Dad!

2006 was my last year competing and I know Dad would have been so proud that I have raised almost £15,000 in his memory.

I just wish he could still be here; there's so much he's missed that I would have loved to have shared with him.

One of my other passions is writing and I had my first book published in Sept 2002. It's a crime thriller called "The Habit".
My author website is www.richardarmour.co.uk

Due to work commitments I simply haven't got the time to work on my next book. I have 4 other books I'd like to write and no doubt I'll find the time at some point.

My other hobbies include karting, scuba diving and I love motor sport, particularly Formula 1. Freeparking has sponsored Phil Bennett, an ex-British Touring Car driver for the last 6 years.

Life is just so exciting and challenging and I think it's great to get out there and try new things and to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone.

My motto in life is "Life is too short not to live it up a little!"
